Pinksage’s Guide to Web Awesomeness
I can honestly say I live on the Internet. When asked for my permanent address, I automatically input my IP number and browser preference. As a person spending 20+ hours on the web daily, i’ve seen the wonders it has to offer—from great blogs, web applications, community websites and many, many free Xbox 360 rewards. Hundreds of new sites appear online everyday and it can be a challenge to keep up. This where I come in—with my “internetz” Ph.D in hand (don’t forget the pop-up blocker lotion!), i’ll set out on a monthly digital quest to find three awesome sites you must know about. Last month we covered: Raptr, Game-Releases, and Mutape. Ready for another dose of awesome? Let’s-a-go!
wegame.com
Some game developers have realized that we love to share our gaming experiences on the web. Games like SPORE come with integrated options to record and upload videos to YouTube for instant gratification. Sharing our penis-head colony with the world is at our finger tips and we wouldn’t have it any other way. Wegame adds this capability to games that are stuck in 1999 - or actually made in 1999. They offer a software that allows you to record your games and upload it on to their website, which works similiar to Gametrailers or Youtube. If you are looking for an easy way to create tutorials and walkthroughs, you need to give this a try! You are also able to upload any video type such as trailers, montages or videos of you running around with underwear on your head (but why would you do that?).
Along with video uploads, wegame.com offers capabilities on its site that allows you to interact with the community. You can find out how many Diablo II builds there are via the Wiki, talk to other gamers about builds on the forums, take a quiz to test your build knowledge, or join a group of elite build masters. Create, share, and interact. If this is what you are about, what are you waiting for?
gameskoot.com
Gameskoot.com is a search engine that regenerates results for videogames exclusively, by taking results from popular sites such as 1up, IGN, GamePro, and more. If you want to know the latest haps on your favorite game, you can search for news and it regenerates results for that game. Need input from a particular community? The handy forums tab searches game related forums from around the web to give you what you need so you won’ t miss a beat when it comes to all the “bitching” and “whining”. ‘Hot Stuff’ is an aggregated RSS feed of all the popular gaming news destinations all in one page. For those naughty kiddies cheating, you may also search for cheats. Blue, red, and white folks can also get in on the action as the site can also be translated in French — see, we love you too! The search works great for all the bigger name sites but it doesn’t seem to search the more independent folks. But, since the big sites are so hard to navigate and find content in, this works great!
usernamecheck.com
With social networking sites popping up like mini-marts in a small rural town, the demand for having one virtual identity across the web has increased. This is where Username Check comes in. At the click of a button you can scan over 50 sites to see if your username is available. If you are a web freak, such as myself, this site can be tremendously useful to lock in your name on upcoming sites which may very well be the next big thing. Yes, I admit it, after scanning for my name I actually signed up on most of these. I belive in a consistant web idenity and I want to lock it down. Now if I could only get my name on Xbox LIVE… *grrr!*
So there you have it folks! You are now three sites closer to becoming an Internet awesomeneer. Already Internet awesome you say? Have a site that is so full of win you must share? Then shoot me an email at thepinksage@yahoo.com with your recommendation!
