We are switching things up a little this month with the gamer profile. Instead of doing a profile on what people do in their lives when they are not gaming; we are looking at what people do in their lives to bring other people INTO their gaming lives. This months feature is on SFX360. The founders of SFX360 are an awesome couple that Ooopy met while in the great state of Florida (I don’t know why I said great state; I have never been there and I don’t know if it is great, but it sounded like the right thing to say) and even though I can’t verify their awesomeness, if Ooopy says they are awesome, then they are awesome! But rather than listening to me ramble on about awesomeness and greatness and SFX360ness, let’s hear from one of the founders himself. Welcome to “The Other Me: SFX360″ starring SFX PALLIDIAN! [cue the applause]

SFX360 (South Florida Xbox 360) is a community of gamers with a mission: to bring players out of the realm of Xbox Live and game live face to face. Whether you’re a hardcore ‘noob pwner’ or even a casual weekend warrior, SFX360 is about coming together as a community and sharing a passion of what we love. SFX360 is here for you to keep you informed of the latest info as well as keep you entertained by many of our gaming events including tournaments, game launches, parties, and much more.

How SFX360 got started? Well… when LadyJ and I (Pallidian) moved to Ft. Lauderdale from Miami, we wanted to meet new people with the same interests we had. We wondered if there were any local social groups so we started searching through the web to see what we could find. We found a website called Meetup.com and it’s basically a site with different groups with different interests. We searched to see if there were any gaming groups which to our amazement did exist but none in our state. Jokingly we teased the idea of making one ourselves and how much fun it would be. Without much of a thought we started “The South Florida Xbox 360 group” on July 25, 2007, for adults 21 and over. Since then we’ve transformed into SFX360 and the rest is History!

The People

SFX360 is about the people whom are involved with the group, without them, the success that we’ve had so far wouldn’t exist. Our founding staff includes MikeMcDnet (Assistant Organizer), Dephin (Tournament Director), Jav (Graphic Designer), BuzzKiller (Head Writer), and JVB (Podcast Manager). Each of them is extremely talented, hard-working, and very dedicated while sharing the same passion for gaming as we do.

It’s amazing to see the positive feedback we get from our local and out of state communities. Our website has generated loads of new members into our forums. Even though our website has just recently launched, we continue to grow by leaps and bounds. We’re “on the map” now and other gaming communities have taken notice to us and we’ve received great feedback from them.

Other Events

Yes, SFX360 has been involved in numerous events including game launches and tournaments. We’ve held charity tournaments for Guitar Hero 3 and Rock Band which drew large crowds and had an American Idol style judging. Just recently we had our 1st year anniversary event which had three tournaments in one night (Gears of War, Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare, and Halo 3). SFX360 has also participated in a few game launches including Grand Theft Auto IV and MLB2K8. Also we’ve sponsored a team at MLG Orlando.

No joke this time, people!… this is serious business… writing profiles… not everything has to end with a joke! Sheesh… move on, peeps… I promise next months will be the best joke evah! (hopefully!)
